About

I’m a philosopher of biology and a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow at the University of Cambridge.

The building I’m standing in front of is not my house, but Emmanuel College, Cambridge, where I am a College Research Associate.

Outside of academia I’m known mainly for my writings on race differences, my debate with Kevin MacDonald on the “Jewish question,” my skepticism of the healthiness of vegetarianism, and for the fact that every year or so there is a campaign to retract one of my papers or to get me fired.

I write on topics that I’ve thought about for a long time, and which are usually connected to my work in the philosophy of science. I comment on the news only if it’s connected to some deeper issue with which I’m familiar. That means I generally avoid hot takes, and I may not churn out content regularly.

This newsletter is free. If you feel that you get at least $5/month of value from my work on and/or off Substack, I would be grateful if you choose to support my efforts with a paid subscription. In the future I may create paywalled content for supporters.
